STEPS TO BE DONE BEFORE THE PUJA::
Select the place where the puja is to be done and arrange a Mandhasan decorated as I have described in Varalakshmi Puja.
Start Lakshmi Puja.
Padmasane Padmakare sarva-lokaika-pujithe,
Dhora . A janivara/jhanav can be used. take a length thread of about 8 inches and apply haldhi water over it and tie nine knots. Make as many as needed plus one for the devi, if small girls are there make shorter lengths. Apply a little kumkum to all the threads and keep it in a silver/pithal plate/bowl near the kalas if there is space or on the side of the mandhasan. After keeping it recite this--

Post Script: The Coconut used for the Kalas, after punar puja keep it in the place where money and jewels are kept. after a few days the coconut is broken and made into a SWEET. and also the rice put under the kalas.
This year Nandhana Naama Samvastra the Lakshmi puja happens to be in the Shaka Vratha that means no Vegetables aand fruits except Mango can used. Coconut is used only for the Kalas. For Naividya, Kade Sakar and mango is allowed. But sweets can be made of Miadha, Wheat flour Rava udad dal and Mung dal.
Chana Dal used by all the mutts except UTHARADHI MUTT.
The sweets which can be made are Wheat halwa, Jhangri, Jelebi, Chiroti, Badhushai, Appi Kheer [papadach kheer] Mung dal laddu. If using Chana flour, Mysore Pak, Basen laddu can also be made. If using Chana Dal Puran Poli can be made
Wheat Halwa. Easy method. One cup ---wheat flour, 11/2 cups--- sugar, 1/2 to 3/4 cup ---Ghee,Cardamom powder and Kesari strings a few.
method -- Mix the wheat flour with water as for Dosai and let t it stand for about an hour, then in a muslin cloth sieve it so only the water from the soaked flour is sieved remove all the water by squeezing it a little.
In a thick bottomed Kadai pour this and let it boil stirring it all the while.When the raw smell of wheat disappears add the sugar and keep stirring continuously and when it becomes semi solid start adding the ghee little by little, till the mixture starts to leave the sides of the kadai, add the cardamom powder and kesar, keep stirring till its really thick and pour it on to to greased tray. Cut into squares when cool.
With the Coconut kept for Kalas a sweet has to be made as also with the Rice, With both these one can make a sweet called Haal bai
For this soak the rice for 2/3 hours, then grind the rice with coconut and jaggery. ( the jaggery must be 1-3/4 the amount of the rice used) In a non stick or thick bottomed Kadai pour the ground mixture and over slow fire cook it stirring all the time when it starts to thicken add ghee ( for one cup of rice you will need about 4/5 table spoons of Ghee) little by till the mixture statrs to leave the sides of the kadi and pour it on to a greases plate and cut into squares after it cools. Kaju, dhrakshe can also be added with kesar and cordomom after the mixture thickens and before pouring on to the plate. While grinding the rice add plenty of water as , it should boil for a quite long time before it thickens so the raw smell of rice has to disappear.

- A Tulasi bridhavan /pot is kept on the front of the house.
- Next to the Tulasi, on a plank or plate keep the Varalakshmi Kalas.
- Perform tulasi puja with haladhi Kum kum, flowers and geja vasthra etc,
- Offer a fruit, vidach pan supari for naividya.
- Light Lamps.
- Sprinkle Haldhi and kumkum and flower to the Kalas.
- [ON THE THRESHHOLD KEEP RICE AND A SMALL PEICE OF JAGGERY in small katori]..
- Perform Arathi to Tulasi and the Kalas.
- Carefully lift the kalas with the face towards the inside of the house and with the Kalas push the Rice/jaggery katori inside the house.
- Bring it and keep it in mantap where a glass of rice has been spread.
- From the time of Arathi to Tulasi to the the keeping of the Kalas in the Mandhasan one of the men should keep ringing the bell [Ghanta] or Jhankat.. After this decorate the mandhasan with flowers [Use only good pleasant smelling flowers, not any flower]
- After installing the Kalas, perform Yamuna puja, the Yamuna Kalas can be kept in front of the mandhasan or next to it.
Start Lakshmi Puja.

Make a mandal ie pour a little water on the floor on the right side of the kalash and make a square, in the middle with haldhi powder write Sri in Sanskrit or kanada. and put a few grains of mantra-akshita on four corners and middle. on this keep all the things to be offered for naiavidya. ie food, sweets.. Make another mandal and keep fruits , dry fruits, pan supari, broken coconut any sweet which is not KARKAT/MUSRE.For the cooked items pour little ghee{this is called abhikara}, and put a tulsi dhala over the all the eats, to be offered. Offer the Naividya to Sri Krishna or Saligrama and then to Lakshmi.Ghana saara Sugandhena mishritham pushpa-vasitham paaniyam

DHORA BANDHANA MANTRA.

Take one thread and put near the kalas, take another one, for savashini apply haladhi kukmkum , give her aflower and a fruit to hold in her right hand and tie the dhora, and apply haldhi kumkum to the dora.VAYANA DAANAM:
Give give vayana dhana to bramin. Vayana dhana is to give Rice , a little tur dal coconut pan supari,dhakshina and jaggery to a bramin or to the person who officiate in the puja.
Do Onti Bharna (Udi Thumbodu) to the Devi just like you would to a savashini, but it has to be put in a plate and offered to devi. Sari choli or at least a choli is to be offered. This saree can be worn by the lady of the house..
after the the Savashini hs to be given haldhi kumkum choli[saree] Onti Bharana and all members do namaskar and take her blessings. Before any one eats she has to partake the food..
