Adhika Maasaor Mala maasa. This year, in Vikrama Year we have two Vaisaka maasas. One is Adhika maasa and Nija Vaisaka.Adhika Vaisaka is from 15.4. 2010 to 14.5.2010. Nija Vaisaka is from 15.5.2010. to 12.6.2010.
Purshothama is the maasa murthy, for any adhika maasa. Sankalpa and snana before sun rise, offering Dhanas. special pujas during adhika maasa, bring innumerable benifits. The lord brings success in all theefforts undertaken by a saadhaka, says Padma purana.
DHANAS. If one offers even a smallest dhana on dwadasi, pournima,or on Vyatee pata day, it brings Maha Phala. Vastra is said to be an important Daana during Adhika Maasa.It brings wealth , Sukha, Long life free of any desease, fame and also leads to the kingdom of god says the sriptures.
Apoopa is an edible item, made with rice jaggery gus gusa and ghee. Apoopa dhana is best dhans for adhika maasa. 33 peices of the sweet which is also called Anarasa /Adhirasm, is offered in a pithal plate to a any worthy bramin on any day except on Ekadasi, during the Adhika maasa.This dhana is equal to bhoomi dhana.
